Garden Trends For 2018

We’re nearly through with the first month of the year for 2018 and as you survey your garden and think about prepping for spring, you may be thinking about an overhaul of your garden. Perhaps you’re thinking of new styles, some new ways of structuring the garden, that not only fits in with your personal likes, but with trends for the coming year. We’re going to be looking at how you can dress your garden fashionably and just the way you want it.

Asymmetrical gardens

We’re talking perfect asymmetry here with one of the hot trends for 2018. You’re going to love it! Think crazy paving with coloured stones and geometric lines and broken-down edges. Combine plants where you want, it’s a garden of asymmetrical loveliness.

Mental wellness and air-purifying plants

We’re all starting to think of the benefits of mental wellness and with a mental wellness garden you’ll have a haven of peace and tranquillity, it’s also something other people with like-minded concerns will be doing this year as more and more of you feel the love. Choose some calming plants which are helpful in creating a relaxed place to go. If you’re close to plants then apparently, you’re going to be feeling a whole lot better, and happier, so try turning your garden into an oasis of calm. Try rubber plants, bamboo palms and ferns as these are apparently good for purifying the air.

Ecological beauty

If you care about the environment, then why not make your garden an ecological oasis? A garden which encourages the survival of wildlife and plants will be big this year as will edible planting. Just go for it.

Wabi-Sabi imperfection

Who doesn’t love a bit of Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese way of appreciating imperfection. It works with internal design, but it can work with outdoors too. Why not try it and do something special with your garden, use broken used parts of old pots or paving and use to create something else, do some upcycling. Use the cracked pots and faded colours, they all work in their own way. Nothing has to be minimal and perfect to look good.
